The first thing that shapes a Wrightsville Beach paint job is the bridge. Under federal rules, the drawbridge over the Intracoastal Waterway opens for boats on the hour between 7am and 7pm, so a van that reaches it at the wrong moment sits in line. We plan arrival around the openings so the crew starts on time.
Parking comes next. The town has run paid parking from March through October, and a paint crew needs a vehicle close to the house all day for ladders, drop cloths and paint. Off-season work avoids that question entirely.
The calendar matters too. About 47 percent of the island's homes are held as seasonal or second homes, per the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey. An empty house is the easiest one to paint, and if you'd rather the work be done while you're away, that can be arranged. We can confirm colors by phone and send photos of each finished room.
Finally, the houses are old by beach-town standards: more than half were built before 1980. Older walls tend to carry patches, earlier paint layers and the odd crack that a quick repaint skips. Expect your estimate to include the prep an older surface needs.
Our trade is wallpaper, and paper exposes every ridge and patch on a wall. That habit of looking closely carries into our painting. The person painting your home answers to us and carries our $2M general liability and workers' comp coverage. Our interior painting page lays out each step in more detail.
Walls, ceilings, trim and doors, as you choose
Holes, cracks and old patches filled and sanded flat
Trim gaps caulked for a clean line
Stains spot-primed before the finish coat
Floors and furniture covered before any paint is opened
A sheen chosen per surface
A walkthrough at the end, or photos if you're away, then cleanup

Everything the crew needs comes over the bridge in one trip, so the materials list is settled when you book. In a duplex or small building, which is nearly a quarter of the homes here, we work only inside your unit and keep shared entries clear. In an older house, prep gets more time than it would in a newer one, and the estimate shows it as its own line. Trim in houses of that age may still carry oil-based paint, which needs a bonding primer before a modern finish will hold. If you rent the house out, washable finishes in hallways and bedrooms stand up better to guests, and one labeled can per color makes small touch-ups easy between bookings.

We plan around the bridge openings and call before leaving Wilmington, so the start time you were given is the one you actually get.

If the house sits empty in winter, that's often the best time to paint. Tell us the weeks it's free, and we'll fit the job into them, with nobody's vacation interrupted by drop cloths.

Your property manager, a neighbor or a lockbox can let the crew in. We confirm colors with you by phone first and send pictures of each finished room afterward.

Adding a wallpaper accent wall? Our installers and painter share one schedule, so the paint is cured before paper goes up next to it.
From the first conversation to the finished room.
01List the rooms, add a few phone photos, and tell us which weeks the house is empty or when you'll be on the island yourself.
02We confirm scope and sheens room by room, by phone if you're away, and fix the materials list so one trip over the bridge covers it.
03You get a call as the crew heads out. The crew covers the room, fills and sands, primes stains, then paints.
04Furniture goes back, drop cloths come up, and you check each room in person or through a set of photos sent to your phone.
We quote the rooms you send rather than publish a per-room rate, and you get the number before anything is scheduled. What moves it:
Square footage and ceiling height
Surfaces: walls only, or ceilings, trim and doors as well
Prep, which an older island house usually needs more of
Furnished rooms or an empty house
How many colors and sheens
An older house usually needs more of its price in prep than a newer one: filling, sanding, priming and sometimes a bonding coat on old trim. Your estimate separates that prep from the painting itself, so you can see where the money goes. Two island factors can matter as well. In season, a vehicle near the house may mean paid parking. Off-season dates avoid that and often suit second homes anyway. The number we quote is the number you pay, and military households get 10% off.

Old paper removed and new paper hung level, even in an out-of-square room.

Find a paper that suits your new colors and preview it on your own walls.

From our Wilmington base, we serve Wrightsville Beach and the surrounding New Hanover County area, plus the rest of the coastal Carolinas corridor.
Send the rooms and the free weeks. We'll plan the rest.
