Drywall, vinyl-covered panel or grooved paneling: we ask which you have before quoting, because each one is prepared differently. Your price then reflects the prep your particular wall actually needs, and nothing more.

Hubert has no Census place boundary, so these figures are for the Hubert ZIP code (28539), which covers more ground than the community. Per the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey, in that ZIP code (28539), 1,523 of the 8,484 homes are mobile or manufactured homes, about 18 percent. Another 77.9 percent are detached houses built on site, and only 2.8 percent are attached.
That split decides how a wall is prepared. Drywall in a site-built house gets primer or sizing, then paper. A manufactured home often has vinyl-covered wall panels with strips over the joints, or grooved paneling, and paper may not grip a vinyl face or may show every groove beneath it. Some of those walls need a liner paper first. Others are poor candidates for wallpaper, and we tell you which before you book, not on install day.
Most of the houses are recent. The median build year in the ZIP area is 1999, so old paper under paint is less common here than in older Onslow towns, though some older houses may have it.
Hubert is an unincorporated community in Onslow County, west of Swansboro, and Camp Lejeune's northeastern side borders it. Our crew comes up from Wilmington.
Most of our customers have their paper in hand before they call, bought on their own or picked by a designer. If you're still deciding how much to buy, we calculate rolls from the pattern repeat. The installer is a W-2 employee of a second-generation wallpaper company and a Wallpaper Installers Association member, never a subcontractor. We don't install peel-and-stick. Every step, from counting rolls to cleanup, is laid out on our wallpaper installation page.
Rolls counted from the pattern repeat, if you haven't ordered
Any old paper taken down and the wall repaired
A primer or sizing coat suited to the wall
A plumb line set with a level as the starting point
Seams matched so the pattern runs unbroken
Hand-cut inside corners, never wrapped
A final look at the room together, then cleanup

The first question here is the wall itself. Most site-built houses in the ZIP area date from 1990 onward, and their drywall usually needs only primer or sizing. On drywall, the job runs as it would in Wilmington. On a vinyl-covered panel, the face may need a liner paper or a bonding primer before decorative paper will hold, and the strips over panel joints have to be dealt with first. On grooved paneling, the grooves are filled or lined so they don't show through. If a wall won't hold paper well, you hear that before you order a single roll.

Drywall, vinyl-covered panel or grooved paneling: we ask which you have before quoting, because each one is prepared differently. Your price then reflects the prep your particular wall actually needs, and nothing more.

Some panel walls are better painted than papered. If yours is one of them, we say so before you buy rolls, rather than hanging paper that lifts at the joints in a year.

The installer who arrives is a W-2 employee covered by our $2M general liability, workers' comp and auto policies. We phone ahead before we arrive.
From the first conversation to the finished room.
01Pick drywall, vinyl-covered panel, paneling or not sure on the estimate form. A straight-on photo of the wall settles most questions.
02The instant estimate prices the room, including any liner or extra prep a panel wall needs. Your accepted price won't change: the quote is the quote we honor.
03No paper yet? We count rolls from the pattern repeat. Install dates usually fall two to three weeks out.
04We call before we arrive. The crew strips any old paper, lines or primes the wall as needed, sets a plumb line and hangs your paper.
05Look over the seams with the installer. A room typically finishes in a day or less, and your 1-year workmanship guarantee begins.
We price each room through the instant estimate instead of quoting a flat rate, since a drywall room and a paneled room of the same size are different jobs. These are the main factors:
Wall area and ceiling height
Wall type: drywall, vinyl-covered panel or grooved paneling
Liner paper or extra primer, where a panel wall needs it
The paper: grasscloth and vinyl differ, and unpasted designer papers hang differently
Pattern repeat, since a large one means more cuts
Any old paper that has to come off first
Wall type is the factor that moves a Hubert price most, so choose it on the form and add a photo if you can. Paper is a separate cost unless you buy it through us. Military households save 10% on the installation. Accept the number and it holds through install day.

A panel wall that won't take paper may still take paint, and the same company can quote both.
