Prep Matched to the Wall
Drywall, vinyl-faced panels and decades-old trim each need a different first step. We identify the surface before quoting, so the primer suits what's actually behind the paint.

Housing in Sneads Ferry is a mix, and the mix decides what sits behind the paint. The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey counts about 62 percent of homes as detached houses, a little over 14 percent as townhomes, and about one home in six as a manufactured home.
Site-built houses have drywall, and their questions are age questions. Nearly two in five homes here were built before 1980. Trim that old can hide an oil-based coat, and latex won't grip it without a bonding primer, so it gets tested before anything goes over it. Homes from before 1978 also bring federal lead-safe rules into the prep, covered in the questions below.
Manufactured homes are a different surface entirely. Their interior walls are often gypsum panels with a printed vinyl face, joined by battens over the seams. Standard wall paint sheds from vinyl, so the panels need cleaning, a light scuff and a bonding primer first, and the battens either get painted to match or stay as trim.
Townhomes add shared walls and, in some communities, an association with rules on contractor hours or parking; send those with your estimate if they apply. Sneads Ferry is an unincorporated community in Onslow County, along NC 172, inside our service area.
We're a second-generation wallpaper company that also paints, and the wallpaper habit stays: look hard at a wall before covering it. A pattern shows every flaw underneath, so we prep for paint with the same care. Our $2M general liability and workers' comp cover the person painting your home. Step-by-step detail for every room lives on our interior painting page.

The wall surface identified before any prep starts
Holes and dings filled, cracks repaired, surfaces sanded or scuffed to suit
A primer matched to the surface underneath
Nail holes from old pictures and shelves filled flat
Floors and furniture covered before painting
A sheen for each room
A walkthrough, touch-ups and cleanup at the end

On site-built drywall, prep usually means filling, sanding and spot-priming. On older trim, a quick test shows whether the existing coat is oil-based before a bonding primer goes on. In a pre-1978 home, prep follows lead-safe practice. Vinyl-faced panels in a manufactured home are cleaned and scuffed rather than sanded through, then primed with a bonding product so the color coat can grip. In a townhome, work stays inside your unit and shared entries stay clear. Unsure which surface you have? A close-up photo usually settles it, and the estimate names the prep for each room, so the plan doesn't change on the day.

Drywall, vinyl-faced panels and decades-old trim each need a different first step. We identify the surface before quoting, so the primer suits what's actually behind the paint.

Vinyl-covered panels shed ordinary paint. Cleaning and a bonding primer give the color coat something to grip, and you'll know beforehand how the battens will be finished.

Nearly two in five homes here predate 1980. Trim from that era may carry oil-based paint, so it's checked before coating, and pre-1978 work follows lead-safe practice.

Shared entries stay clear, and any association rules on hours or parking go into the schedule before the crew arrives. We answer the phone, and we call ahead of every visit.
From the first conversation to the finished room.
01Pick site-built, townhome or manufactured on the form, list the rooms, and add phone photos, including one close-up of a wall surface.
02We identify the wall material and the trim paint, then confirm scope, colors and sheens room by room before booking.
03We call before arriving. The crew covers floors, preps each surface for its type, primes where needed and paints.
04Every room gets checked with you, one at a time. We touch up whatever you flag in daylight, put the furniture back where it was and leave the house clean.
We quote the rooms you send instead of a published rate, and you see the number before anything is booked. What moves it:
Square footage and ceiling height
Surfaces: walls alone, or ceilings, trim and doors too
The wall material: drywall, vinyl-faced panels or a mix
Primer: a bonding coat on vinyl or on oil-based trim adds a step
Lead-safe setup and cleanup in a pre-1978 home
Furnished or empty rooms, and the number of colors
In Sneads Ferry, the type of wall behind the paint shifts the prep more than any other factor, which is why the form asks for your home type. Your estimate shows that prep apart from the painting. If the house mixes surfaces, each room is priced for its own wall. We stand by the quoted figure, and the 10% military discount applies.
