A Date That Suits the Wall
A brand-new wall can look finished weeks before it will hold paper well. We ask when the builder wrapped up, check the surface, and book a day once the wall is ready.

Holly Ridge's median build year, 2015, is among the newest in our service area. The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey puts its median build year at 2015, with 77 percent of homes built since 2010 and about a quarter since 2020. The same survey counted 202 empty homes held for sale only, and in a town this young, much of that is likely new construction. The wall you want papered may belong to a house you closed on last month.
A finished house does not always have finished walls. Joint compound, new drywall and the builder's last coat of paint can hold moisture for a time after the keys change hands. Paper pasted onto a surface that is still curing may lose its grip or let the seams beneath it show through. Before we set a date, we ask when the builder finished and what paint is on the wall, then tell you whether it's ready now or worth a short wait. Primer goes on first either way.
New framing moves, too. As lumber dries over a house's first year or two, hairline cracks can open along drywall joints and above door frames. A strip hung across a joint that is still moving can split along it later. If you see small cracks already, mention them when you request the estimate.
Travel is simple. Holly Ridge sits on US 17 between our Wilmington shop and Jacksonville, inside our Onslow County service area.
You bring the paper, or the plan for it. Most of our customers have a pattern picked out already, on their own or with a designer, and the crew's work is making the finished wall match that sample. Installers are our own W-2 employees, and we never send a subcontractor. Roll counts, seams, corners and cleanup are covered step by step on our wallpaper installation page.
A roll count worked out from the pattern repeat, if nothing is ordered yet
A readiness check on new drywall and builder paint before the date is set
Primer matched to the surface
Any old paper taken down and the wall repaired first
A plumb line set with a level, never borrowed from a corner
Seams matched and the repeat held level from wall to wall
Inside corners hand-cut against a straight edge
A walkthrough together, then cleanup

Timing changes more than technique. In an older town, the first hour of a job goes to stripping; here it can go to confirming that paint rolled on a few weeks ago has cured. Spots the builder touched up at your final walkthrough get a separate look, because that paint is newer than the wall around it. Fresh hairline cracks at drywall joints are filled before primer. If a wall isn't ready, you hear that from us, along with a date worth coming back on.

A brand-new wall can look finished weeks before it will hold paper well. We ask when the builder wrapped up, check the surface, and book a day once the wall is ready.

New houses shift as framing dries. A hairline crack along a drywall joint gets filled and primed before paper crosses it, so the split doesn't open through your pattern next spring.

We're a second-generation wallpaper company and Wallpaper Installers Association members. Inside corners are cut by hand on a straight edge, and everyone hanging your paper is our own W-2 employee.

If a seam we hung lifts during the first year, we come back and fix it. Your quoted price holds on install day. Military households save 10%.
From the first conversation to the finished room.
01Request your instant estimate and add the month the builder handed over the keys. That one date shapes the rest of the plan.
02We look at the paint and the drywall joints from your photos or in person, then set an install date, usually two to three weeks out.
03No paper yet? We work out the roll count from the pattern repeat, so a designer order can arrive while the walls finish curing.
04We call before arriving. The crew fills any settling cracks, primes, sets a plumb line and hangs the paper, then checks every seam with you.
Your exact price comes from the instant estimate, and it's the quote we honor. We don't post rates, since the room and the paper decide the number. What moves it:
Wall area and ceiling height, which set how many strips are cut
The paper itself: grasscloth, vinyl and unpasted designer papers each hang their own way
The pattern repeat, because a large repeat wastes more at every cut
Prep, such as priming fresh builder paint or filling seam cracks in a house that has started to settle
Fixtures to trim around, like a vanity, mirror or towel bar
In a Holly Ridge house built in the last few years, removal is seldom part of the job, so prep tends to be a small line. If the walls need a few more weeks to cure, moving the date should not move the quote. The paper is priced separately unless you buy it through us, and military households get 10% off.

Replacing the builder's paint around your new paper? The company hanging the paper can repaint those walls.
